All UN institutions serially test our sanity – very sorely so. UNESCO – the gallingly misnamed “educational, scientific and cultural” arm of the dysfunctional organization – managed to barely brake at the brink of bedlam, but only just and only for now. At the very last minute it let go of a plan to pronounce the Western Wall a Muslim holy shrine, an integral part and parcel of the al-Aksa Mosque compound.
That presumably would have accorded Muslims international sanction to bar the Jews from Judaism’s holiest site – the remnant of the great Temple, in front of which for 2,000 years Jews bewailed the Temple’s destruction, the loss of their sovereignty and their ongoing tragedy.
So pivotal a Jewish site was to be consigned to Islam because of a Johnny-come-lately tale that Muhammad tethered his winged steed Burak there on a mysterious mythical midnight flight.
Here it needs be noted that the identification of the Western Wall as Burak’s hitching post is quite recent – less than a hundred years old. It was the brainchild of the infamous Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini, who would become Hitler’s avid collaborator during WWII.
As British rule began after the First World War, Husseini evinced overnight attachment to the Western Wall. He sanctified it as Burak’s stopover spot and thereafter Husseini abided Jewish wailing at the Wall only occasionally, after remittance of exorbitant fees for the privilege – providing Muslim sensibilities weren’t offended.
The problem was there was no telling what would give offense. In 1919 wooden benches for the old and infirm were pointed to as insufferable affronts. The British promptly removed them but Arabs then began to regularly drive cattle and laden donkeys through crowds of Jewish congregants. From Al-Aksa perched above the Wall, Arabs also hurled stones and tossed human feces, animal dung and all manner of garbage onto the praying Jews below. These presumably are all befitting representations of Muslim respect for sanctity.
From 1920 the muezzin was dispatched to bellow his loudest chants precisely during Jewish services. By 1921 the sound of the shofar, blown at the Wall on High Holydays, became the next pretext for unrest. The British authorities obligingly forbade the annoying blasts. Thereafter, Jewish youths had to smuggle the shofar to the wall.
The shrillest Arab outcry was raised in 1928 over a flimsy cloth partition put up to segregate male and female worshippers. The British lost no time to tear down the insulting screen right at the climax of Yom Kippur prayers.
Even so, the premeditated disruptions at the Wall grew increasingly violent. Husseini exhorted all Muslims to a “Holy War to protect al-Aksa from Jewish conquest.” On August 23, 1929 Husseini sent his disciples to avenge what he hyped as a Jewish conspiracy. The week-long bloodbath left 133 Jews slain and destroyed the venerable old Jewish community of Hebron.
UNESCO was a micro-millimeter away from sanctioning Husseini-like incitement about the Wall along with derivative holy bloodletting. But it did declare two other intrinsically Jewish sites – Hebron’s Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem – as exclusively Muslim. To this was stitched a firmly-worded demand that that both be removed from the inventory of Jewish heritage sites.
Hang on – that’s not new! It’s just a replay-cum-reaffirmation of precisely what UNESCO already wrought five years ago. In 2010 this same shameless UN agency demanded exactly the same.
Quite incredibly – when they redefined Rachel’s Tomb and the Cave of the Patriarchs as Muslim mosques that must be stricken off the list of Jewish heritage sites – representatives of western democracies on UNESCO’s executive delivered a self-destructive blow to their own heritage. The impression imparted was that these were only ever Muslim from time immemorial. By referring to them only by Arabic monikers, UNESCO plainly sought to detach seminal biblical place-names from any Jewish connections.
It’s one thing to willfully subscribe to mind-blowing colossal deception; it’s quite another to shake the foundations beneath one’s own civilization. Politically incorrect as it may be in our postmodern multicultural existence, Europe’s and America’s democracies are constructed on Christian foundations. By accepting Muslim deconstructionist diktats, the West not only injures the Jews. It foremost injures its own legacy.
To be fair, the world’s current most inveterate revisers of the past – the Muslims – are relative newcomers to the fanciful world of fabricated historiography. Long before Islam at all existed, Christians were obsessed with their own retrospective rewriting and they were preceded by pagans. Perhaps it was all already foretold by the biblical Balaam who prophesied (Numbers 23:9) that Israel shall be “a people who dwells alone and shall not be counted among the nations.”
Consequently Christianity could expend so much effort on cleansing the historic Jesus of his Jewishness. But telltale vestiges remain in the New Testament attesting to the truth which volumes of convoluted rationalizations and distortions couldn’t quite erase. Just turn to Mark 12:28-30, where Jesus is asked which is the most important commandment of all. He replies without equivocation: “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and all your might.”
Any Jew would instantaneously recognize this as the primary article of Jewish faith, a direct quotation from Deuteronomy 6:4-9. For observant Jews it is an obligatory prayer each morning and evening. It’s the Jewish bedtime prayer. It’s the prayer inscribed within the Mezuza on every Jewish doorpost.
It’s the final prayer uttered by the faithful before death. It is the last prayer with which Jewish martyrs perished at the hands of their executioners – whether from the ranks of the Catholic Inquisition, Muslim Jihadists or Hitler’s henchmen. It constituted the avowal of Jewish devotion and loyalty that Jesus valued most.
He surely would have unreservedly identified Hebron and Bethlehem as incontestably Jewish and the tombs therein as unquestionably sacred to Jews like him. Islam hadn’t yet come into the world and wouldn’t be conceived of for many hundreds of years to come.
Thus when Christians – practicing or otherwise – voted to support UNESCO’s presumption call the Cave of the Patriarchs the al-Ibhrahimi Mosque and Rachel’s Tomb the Bilal ibn-Rabah Mosque, they thereby belied and betrayed Jesus. The Christian narrative cannot stand apart from Jewish history.
Since Islam’s debut on the world stage, however, Muslims have made it their routine custom to expropriate the holy sites of others. When Muslim conquistadors first invaded Jerusalem, they called it Bayt al-Maqdis, their adaptation of the HebrewBeit Hamikdash – the Holy Temple. Al Quds – the contemporary Arabic contraction for this original appellation – daily highlights the very Jewish heritage which Arabs now take inordinate pains to obliterate.
Their latest claim is that the very inclusion of the Hebron and Bethlehem tombs among Jewish heritage sites will somehow compromise Muslim freedom of worship.
The irony is that Arab notions of freedom don’t extend to others. In 1910 Yitzhak Ben-Zvi (in time Israel’s second president) and his wife Rachel Yana’it Ben-Zvi hiked to Hebron. Each described, in separate books, how they were barred from the Cave.
Ben-Zvi wrote: “the entrance to the Patriarchs’ Cave was prohibited to non-Muslims… Jews were allowed to climb no higher than the seventh step in the courtyard. Only brave-hearted Jewish women dared enter, masquerading in Arab garb and their faces veiled according to Arab custom.”
Rachel recalled: “Hebron’s Jewish women would sometimes infiltrate the cave veiled and costumed like Arabs. Only by stealth could they pray at our forefathers’ tombs. When Hebron’s Arab fanaticism escalated, Jews were forbidden even to glance into the cave… Hate spewed from the Arab guards’ eyes and from Arab worshippers who brushed against us on their way in. We arrived at the steps and stood silent. I refused to climb the seven permitted stairs. The insult was too searing.”
So much for Arab pluralism and tolerance. Actually, the Arabs don’t demand liberal equality of us, which we anyway grant. They want it all and they want us out, as they did when their forebears descended in 1929 on peaceful homes in Hebron’s ancient Jewish community and hideously hacked their innocent inhabitants to death to glorify Allah.
The Western Wall is by no means off UNESCO’s ever-mutating agenda. Odds are it will reappear and eventually be globally consecrated as Muslim. It’s not too absurd to forecast that the day isn’t far off in which Jews would likewise be required to abjectly relinquish all attachments to the Mount of Olives. By the wisdom of redrafted Arab chronicles and UNESCO, it behooves us to obey. Hence Jerusalem isn’t one whit different from Hebron or Bethlehem.
Bethlehem’s case is the most enlightening. Until 1996 Bethlehem Arabs themselves spoke of Rachel’s Tomb. Only then, at the height of their Oslo-spawned terror offensive, did they switch to calling it the Bilal Ibn-Rabah Tomb.
Ibn-Rabah was an African slave and Muhammad’s muezzin, reputed to have fallen in battle in Syria. Indeed Damascus’s Bab Saghir Cemetery has dibs on what’s said to be Bilal’s grave.
On July 2000 Yasser Arafat insisted to Bill Clinton at Camp David that no Jewish temple ever existed. This is now official PA mantra, recited impudently and unabashedly by Ramallah’s purportedly moderate figurehead Mahmoud Abbas. He concomitantly rails that “filthy Jewish feet contaminate Muslim Jerusalem.”
PA headliner cleric Sheikh Taissir Tamimi proclaims repeatedly that “Jerusalem had always only been Arab and Islamic.” The Cave of the Patriarchs, he hectored, “is a pure mosque, which Jewish presence defiles. Jews have no right to pray there, much less claim any bond to Hebron – an Arab city for 5000 years… All Palestine is holy Muslim soil. Jews are foreign interlopers.”
Back in 1950 poet Natan Alterman penned a tongue-in-cheek reply to a near-identical proclamation (“Palestine is an Arab country and always was. Foreigners have no part in it.)” Entitled An Arab Land, Alterman’s verses appeared on the Labor daily Davar’s front-page. By replacing Biblical Hebrew names with Arabic adaptations, Alterman appeared to amplify the spirit of progressive Arab scholarship. I translated his verses decades ago:

In the Book of Acts – one of the 29 New Testament books, all written by Jews ofcourse and jampacked with direct and indirect references to the Tanakh – the talmidim of Jesus come to him after he has been crucified and has appeared alive again, and ask him their most burning question: “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”. Now if there were any chance that the concept of physical Israel was over, and somehow all the ETERNAL promises made to the fathers had been dropped, he would have said “No” and explained. But this would have been a strange thing to have to do after he had just spent 3 years teaching these guys preparing them to go into the whole known world with the important news about the God of Israel. Sure enough He doesn’t say no – he does not contradict the question about David’s sovereign Israeli state being restored. He doesn’t even contradict the assumption behind the question – that this will indeed happen at some future time. Rather he points them towards God’s overall hand in history: “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority.” His answer gives us a mystical hint which is even more sure when set against the backdrop of the ancient prophecies in Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Zechariah.
Ofcourse, he also managed to show that His God is definitely not Allah, when he describes God as the Father – the Koran specifically saying that Allah has no sons. 🙂

I have two questions: how proto-islamic is a mikveh? not at all. how many ancient mikvehs can be found between syria and egypt? many many mikvehs hehe. I’m thinking of a really nice coffee-table book which could be marketed from ramallah as well as to all their NGOs as a fundraiser for the only continuous, recognisable indigenous people of the land, who in the main were made refugees for 50 generations.
if you’re looking for allah in the tanakh, you have to look at the pagan god baal and the worship of the sun and moon. its pretty easy to trace allah back to babylon (where baal came from) using the star and crescent etc etc.

Had the disciples of Jesus not romanticised and misrepresented his life after his death, he would never have become the leader of Christianity as is practised today. The idea that he was the son of G-d is a total misrepresentation of the intentions and beliefs of Jesus, who arguably suggested that he (as all others) were the sons and daughters of the one divine G-d – 1.e. the children of G-d, and not that he was “THE” son of G-d.. I think that had he know that he was due to be deified would have been an anathema to him and against his principles. He was born, practised and died a Jew. He was merely an observant Jew who questioned and rebelled the practises of the Roman invaders of that time, and local Jewish leaders and their practises.
Sarah has written a superbly accurate article this week based on her excellent grasp of history and fact. It leaves no room for Christian doubt of their hypocrisy, weakness and unprincipled cowardice towards the members of their own religion, their capitulation toward their enemies, their hypocrisy regarding the Jewish world (and thus arguably by association ) toward “Jesus the practising Jew”.

Jesus was most certainly a Jew but if we accept the New Testament as source there are numerous passages that are quite clear that Jesus declared himself as God incarnate. Though he never said the exact words “I am God,” he was nevertheless clearly conscious of his deity and deliberately made that awareness known to others.
To know Jesus is to know Yahweh: “If you knew me, you would know my Father also” (John 14:7).
“Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).
“Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me” (John 14:11).
“Trust in God, trust also in me” (John 14:1).
“Yeshua said to her, “I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Resurrection and The Life; whoever trusts in me, even if he dies, he shall live.” 26″And everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” (John 11)
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. Nowhere, in the Greek or Hebrew scriptures is the Trinity taught, or even hinted at, and it is a doctrine that has nothing to do with Bible truth. It was imported into Christianity in the early centuries by such as the Alexandrian philosophers, as even the history books testify. The above quotes are being totally misrepresented by pacific_waters. For example, John 14:11 “Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me…”. Compare this with Jesus’ words in John 17:21-23 concerning those that believe on him: “that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us: that the world may believe that thou didst send me… that they may be one, even as we are one; I in them, and thou in me, that they may be perfected into one…” John 14:11 is quoted by pacific_waters as ‘hinting’ at a Trinitarian style equality between the Father and the Son, but this would mean that John 17:21-23 just as much ‘hints’ at the disciples being part of that equality, which even Trinitarians wouldn’t argue for a moment. In other words, Jesus words in John 17 illustrate clearly that his words in John 14 are being misrepresented to mean something they don’t mean. They also, for those that are prepared to read what the works actually say, hint at what John 14 DOES mean.
There can be no doubt that Jesus was a Jew and was speaking to Jews. The the various troubles brewing now are intended as a trap for Israel.
The hope is that Netanyahu will retaliate against the “Palestinians”, thus giving an ultimately nuclear armed Iran a chance to “Intervene” to the purpose of Israel’s destruction. What we now see before us is the ploy ramping up. As noted long ago, watch for Obama to sell Israel arms, but then withhold shipment of existing critical arms and munitions, delay scheduling for delivery of new arms, and at the same time defend Iran from Israeli attacks. Obama hates our guts and wants us dead. Count on Obama to do his malicious best at doing exactly the opposite of what rational civilized action would be.
And then watch Obama step in and make himself seem the hero by “saving Israel and the Jewish people” after cynically waiting until only a dozen of us are left alive. Obama would come to the “rescue” of Israel only to make what is left a vassal state and convert what is left of our people to dhimmis.
Regarding the Christian basis for America, its “In G-d We Trust”, much of its laws, values, its Supreme Court, and Christianity itself, they all would not exist if not for our people.

Islam itself must be outlawed and eradicated.
And just because there are 1.8 billion Muslims, that does not make the problem insurmountable but rather simply a larger problem. And thus it needs to be dealt with initially in a different fashion.
The first step to dealing with Islam and its followers is to learn about it and then to educate non-Muslims as to the nature of Islam and its followers. And people must not take their education from the followers of Islam but rather from its critics. People will then step back in horror at the realization of what we have in our midst. Islam and its followers will then become marginalized, and that will be the beginning of the end for Islam and its followers.
Like Nazis and Nazism which together with Islam, its followers and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem who all worked together so diligently to murder our people, Islam itself must be outlawed and eradicated. Islam goes even further by canonizing in their Qur’an and their own religious works the commands and examples to murder our people to the very last one.
Now, all the Germans did not need to be killed. But Nazism, its leaders, dedicated followers and the symbolic vestiges promoting its presence were eradicated. Only the places of horrors it created and the history of what it did are preserved as a reminder to humanity.
The Dome of the Rock and the al-Aksa mosque need to be razed. Had our people known the nature of Islam in 1967 (after nearly 1400 years we still have not internalized the nature of Islam and its followers… shame on us), we would have exposed Islam for what it is, say by reading aloud the Qur’an, and started demolitions. Islamic presence must eventually be removed, everywhere. It is important that anything of value must be disposed of in a fashion such that there is no gain nor profit from the effort.
The solution for the moment is not a war of aggression against Islam but rather the education of our people and of western civilization regarding Islam.
Religions can be evil. People need to understand the exact details of Islam, its history to this day, its tactics, its strategies, and to grasp the Darwinianly perfected nature and makeup (with the intelligence of captured and bred blood of other peoples including our own) of its people. We need not to take for granted extrapolations of early unrelated biblical texts that predate by thousands of years where the people of Islam may have originated. We must not blindly accept as truths Muslim explanations for their origins. They simply are what they are, and have Darwinianly perfected themselves by systematically killing off any of their own people who become apostates or voice civilized and intelligent ideas.

The followers of Islam been indoctrinated since infancy that Islam and its followers will eventually rule the earth. The commands cannoized in their Qur’an very explicity make that a point and dictate that it should be accomplished by slaying the Jew and the infidel until the task is accomplished. Again, this is what Muslims from childhood are taught, believe and expect. The orthodox Muslims that practice it are labeled “terrorists”, “radicals” or some other euphemistic label that lets Islam itself off the hook, when in fact they are carrying out to the letter explicit and very clear Islamic religious commands. The implication of your post is that if Netanyahu retaliates against the PA, either by forcing Muslims off the Temple Mount, or evicting terrorist families from Jerusalem, Obama and/or Iran will intervene and conduct an all-out attack on Israel. While this scenario is certainly possible, then why didn’t the PA and/or UNESCO simply appropriate the Western Wall? What do they have to lose by doing that? Meanwhile, Israel puts up with the status quo–Muslim rule on the Temple Mount, with daily attacks against Jews in the streets of Jerusalem. At least Israel has the facts on her side; i.e. the medallion inscribed in Aramaic, recently found on the Temple Mount, the city of David, etc. But how long can Israel tolerate these attacks? To answer your question, final provocation has not occurred by the Muslims since Iran is not yet ready for what it feels would be a decisive attack on Israel. Should Iran appear to be ready for attack, or should Iran put the word out that it is ready to attack, then you will see a predominant nihilistic effort put forth in the streets by the Muslims, that is, a super-Intifada in order to provoke Israel into action. If the Muslims react too soon, then Israel simply sets them back. What we have at the moment is a psychological war of attrition.
Because Israel will not perish, Israel will tolerate the current attacks until enough people internalize the history and nature of Islam and its followers, with the Iranian situation punctuating the issue.

These groups know that when they act too soon, Israel only sets them back. When these groups and Muslims in general are made to feel that the time is right and then provoked into action, then you will see a nihilistic super-Intifada as a provocation to Israel.
